Christmas lights on waterfront trail trees

Experience Light Up Riverview November 21 – January 5

It's the most wonderful time of the year - bundle up for festive fun along the twinkling riverfront as we Light Up Riverview once again! Over 40,000 lights illuminate Riverview's riverfront for all to experience the magic of the holiday season.

Mayor Andrew J. Leblanc and Riverview Town Council invite you to join them on the Riverfront Trail on Thursday, November 21 at 7 p.m. for a festive evening filled with tunes, treats and tremendous fun!  Special thanks to our sponsors, RBC, Jean Coutu, Kwong’s Chinese Restaurant, SE Mutual, and Nuttall Restoration for making this year’s event possible with their generous donations.

  • Music will be in the air as FMU (Flea Market Underground) rocks the night away at the riverfront gazebo from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.. For Deaf, hard of hearing, and late-deafened communities, American Sign Language interpreters will be on stage rocking alongside them during the band’s performance and Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc's greetings at 7 p.m.
  • Stroll farther along the trail towards the Fundy Chocolate River Station to discover our popular Youth Village! Here, you can grab a hot chocolate from the RHS Royal Reign Dragon Boat team, complete the scavenger hunt, snap a selfie and take home a colouring page thanks to the Riverview Youth Collective! Don’t forget to bring your own mug to help cut back on single-use event waste.
  • Bring your letter for Santa and drop it in our mailbox for special direct delivery to the North Pole. After the event, the mailbox will be relocated by the elves to Riverview Town Hall, 30 Honour Court until Thursday, December 5.
  • If you're feeling thirsty, stop by the Fundy Chocolate River Station for spirited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages created especially for the evening by Holy Whale. While you’re there, take in the musical stylings of Andrew Moore from 6-8 p.m.
  • Don’t miss the Light Up Riverview Market by wandering the back deck of the Fundy Chocolate River Station from 5 – 8 p.m. and shop locally this holiday season from fantastic Riverview businesses.  Season's greetings and special thanks to our friends at Luxe Beauty & Wellness Company for hosting.
  • Soak up the sounds of the season as you browse the market with Atlantic Ballet’s Musical Theatre Youth performing traditional carols.
  • Light Up Riverview’s Gold sponsor, RBC, will be hosting a community food drive during the Mayor’s Light Launch on November 21. They will be onsite behind Greco so trail users can easily drop off non-perishable food items.
  • Parks and Recreation staff will be hosting a free bike valet onsite for folks who use active transportation to get to and from the event! Drop your bike off behind Greco in the fenced area.
  • Aitken's Pewter ornaments featuring Riverview landmark gazebo are available for purchase at the Light Launch for $30, with proceeds supporting Riverview P.R.O. Kids. Purchase online anytime or stop in to the Parks & Recreation office at 55 Biggs Drive.
  • Check out the list of business specials which include sales, extended business hours and an opportunity to visit with Santa!
  • Try your hand at creating your very own needle felted birds nest on Saturday, November 22. This handcrafted ornament is inspired by the folklore tradition of finding a bird’s nest in the Christmas tree.
  • Residents and local businesses can also participate in the holiday cheer by taking part in the Merry and Bright Challenge. Register by Friday, November 22.
  • Enjoy free hot chocolate on a guided walk through the lights on Friday, December 6 and Friday, December 13. Don’t forget to bring your own mug!

Walking, rolling, snowshoeing, and fat biking along the trail are all encouraged. However you choose to move along the riverfront, Light Up Riverview is a must-see holiday experience in New Brunswick. The lights will remain on until January 5, 2025.

Please note that the Electric Vehicle chargers by the Gazebo won’t be available during the event.

Visitors are reminded of trail etiquette – please be courteous to fellow trail-goers so that all can enjoy this dazzling holiday tradition.
