Riverview Seeks Nominations for Volunteers, Youth, and Local Businesses

The Town of Riverview is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Recognizing Riverview Awards, set for Tuesday, April 21 at the Riverview Arts Centre. This annual gala brings together the community to celebrate individuals, youth, and businesses whose contributions make Riverview a remarkable place to live, work, and play.

Launched in 2023 to unify the town’s community awards under one roof, the Recognizing Riverview gala has quickly become a highlight on Riverview’s civic calendar. Organizers encourage residents, schools, and local organizations to nominate outstanding volunteers, students, and businesses before the Monday, March 9 deadline.

Volunteer Recognition

Community organizations are invited to nominate volunteers who have gone above and beyond in service over the past year. Nominations fall into five categories:

1. Schools & churches
2. Sports & youth organizations
3. Essential services
4. Committees & service clubs
5. Charities & non-profits

A selection committee will review submissions and select one Volunteer of the Year in each category. Award recipients will be celebrated at the gala, where they will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Mayor.

Youth Appreciation Awards

Riverview youth continue to be celebrated through partnerships with Riverview High School and the Optimiste Club Moncton-Dieppe. Nominations are open for Grade 12 students excelling in one of four areas:

1. Arts & Culture
2. Sports & Athletics
3. Academics
4. Community Service

Two recipients will be selected per category and recognized at the gala for their outstanding achievements.

Jim Dewolfe Community Spirit Award

This award honours a current or former long-time Riverview resident or business owner whose dedication and community spirit have had a lasting impact. Named after the late Jim Dewolfe, a lifelong volunteer and pillar of the community, this award recognizes those whose leadership, philanthropy, and engagement help shape the town.

Business Awards

Riverview’s Business Awards spotlight local businesses recognized by the public. Residents are encouraged to nominate their favourites in the following categories:

1. Best in Food & Beverage
2. Best in Retail
3. Best in Service
4. Business Longevity

How to Nominate

All nominations must be submitted by Monday, March 9, 2026. Nomination forms and criteria are available at townofriverview.ca/volunteers.

While many gala seats are reserved for nominees, recipients, and their families, the public will have an opportunity to attend and celebrate the town’s volunteers, youth, and businesses. More details will be shared closer to the event.
