Town of Riverview Launches Community Visioning for Gunningsville-Bridgedale-Robertson Area Secondary Plan

RIVERVIEW, N.B. — The Town of Riverview is inviting residents, business owners, developers, and community partners to take part in the first round of public engagement as we begin developing a Secondary Plan for the Bridgedale-Gunningsville-Robertson area—a detailed planning initiative that will help guide future growth and development in one of the community’s most significant emerging areas. 

This community visioning process comes on the heels of Riverview’s recently adopted Municipal Plan and Zoning By-Law, approved by Council last month following a comprehensive two-year review. Within the Municipal Plan, the Bridgedale-Gunningsville-Robertson area has been identified as a key area and zoned accordingly for future development, requiring a Secondary Plan to ensure future neighbourhoods are well-connected, planned holistically, and consider environmental assets. This area is in the eastern part of Riverview and is almost completely undeveloped. The Town has already invested in infrastructure in the area, including road, water, and sewer infrastructure along Gunningsville and Bridgedale Boulevards.  

Where a Municipal Plan encompasses the town in its entirety, a Secondary Plan, by contrast, focuses on a smaller area of the community. It gives more details about all aspects of community building, including land use, design, infrastructure, transportation, recreation, housing and commercial amenities, and consideration for environmental features, ensuring growth remains aligned with the Town's overall vision. This Secondary Plan will ensure a holistic and well-connected approach to future development in the lands around Gunningsville and Bridgedale Boulevards and Robertson Street. 

To help craft this vision, the Town is hosting two initial community visioning session opportunities for all interested parties to participate and share their thoughts: 

Virtual Community Visioning Session 

Tuesday, December 9 
6:30–7:30 p.m.

In-Person Community Visioning Session 

Wednesday, December 10 
6:00–8:00 p.m. 
Council Chambers, Riverview Town Hall 
This is the rescheduled date following the postponement of the December 3 session due to inclement weather. 

Residents are encouraged to attend either session to share their ideas, priorities, and aspirations for the Secondary Plan area. Your input will directly influence the design principles, development concepts, and policy directions that will shape this part of Riverview for generations to come.
