Geocaching Challenge- Harvest Fest

Our community volunteers are pleased to share a newer outdoor geocaching activity that we hope will connect you and your family to Riverview's amazing outdoor green spaces during Harvest Fest! They have created a unique “Adventure Lab” called “Riverview Harvest Festival 2025" that will teach you more about the community's parks, trails and open green spaces. Complete the Adventure Lab to earn a limited edition 2025 Harvest Fest geocoin.

What’s Adventure Lab?

Geocaching Adventure Lab is a newer platform that allows you to create, play, and share location-based experiences. The Adventure Lab app guides players through the process of finding clues, solving puzzles, and completing Adventures, one location at a time.

How do I get started?

  1. Learn how to geocache here.
  2. Grab your electronic device with cell service (and be sure to turn location services ON).
  3. Download the Adventure Lab app (available for iPhone and Android).
  4. Create a free account/profile.
  5. Open the app and search for local tours. This Adventure Lab is entitled “Riverview Harvest Festival 2025". You can then read the description, location, and comments on the activity log.
  6. Once you have arrived at the first location of the tour, click the “start” tab on the title screen your chosen adventure. The compass icon in the top-right corner of the screen will point you in the direction of the first/next point of interest on the tour. The cool thing about using GPS is that the location you are trying to find is shown on the screen and the meters will “count down” to tell you if you are moving in the right direction. When you get to within 5 m of the “location,” tap your screen and the interpretive stop information will come up.

How do I collect my geocoin?

Complete the Adventure Lab “Riverview Harvest Festival 2025". This Adventure lab will be LIVE around September 18. Please note, the Town and community volunteers do not control what time or date the caches are published. Check the website often.

To pick up your trackable, you will need to show a Town of Riverview staff or community volunteer that you have completed the adventure. You have the following options for pick up, first come, first served:

On Saturday, September 20 from 1 - 3 p.m. community volunteers will host the pick up event, which is the initial opportunity to pick up your coin on the Dobson Trail close to the Jim DeWolfe and Edwin Melanson bridges. The geocache event code for this activity is GCBB9CH.

GCBB9CH

  • If you miss the event, the coins will be available at the Parks and Recreation office, located at 55 Biggs Drive. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • If you are visiting from out of town, please leave a self addressed envelope with 2 stamps in the mailbox at 55 Biggs Drive with a note and email a screenshot of your information to recadmin@townofriverview.ca

This year's design is inspired by the 65th anniversary of the Dobson Trail. The Dobson Trail is a 58 km trail linking Riverview to Fundy National Park, a part of the Trans Canada Trail and Canada's longest volunteer built and maintained trail.
