VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION AWARDS
Each year the Town of Riverview recognizes the outstanding contributions to volunteerism in Riverview throughout the preceding year. Awards will be presented at the "Recognizing Riverview" awards night on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. at the Riverview Arts Centre where the following awards will be presented: Riverview Business Awards, Volunteer Recognition Awards, Youth Appreciation Awards, Jim DeWolfe Community Spirit Award, and Sports Wall of Fame Class of 2024 inductee reveal.
For the Volunteer Recognition Awards, organizations such as schools, churches, sports groups, service clubs and committees will have the opportunity to nominate one volunteer who has gone above and beyond in their dedication throughout the past year. Each nominee will be invited to the awards night where they will receive a certificate of appreciation. Nominations will be entered under one of five different categories. A selection committee will review the nominee submissions and one deserving volunteer will be selected as volunteer of the year in each category.
Selection Criteria: Each group or organization may nominate one volunteer that has demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication over this past year. The recipient should be a Riverview resident, but volunteers from outside the Town can be considered if their efforts directly enhance the quality of life in Riverview. Each organization must complete an online nomination form for their volunteer award selection. Submission forms must include the name, mailing address, email address and telephone number for the nominated volunteer, along with a description of the specific contributions that the individual has made to your group or organization, including years active with the organization and specific role or roles held within the organization. The description provided will assist the committee to determine the volunteer of the year in each of the five categories.
YOUTH APPRECIATION AWARDS
Over the past two decades, the Town of Riverview, Riverview High School, and the Optimiste Club Moncton-Dieppe have partnered to celebrate the achievements of Riverview youth. Community leaders are encouraged to nominate Grade 12 Riverview students who excel in one of the following four categories: Arts and Culture, Sports and Athletics, Academics and Community Service. A selection committee will review the nominations, and two deserving students will be selected in each of the four categories, for a total of eight award recipients in total. The award winners will be contacted and will receive three tickets to the Awards Gala dinner, where they will receive a cash award from the Optimiste Club Moncton-Dieppe, as well as a certificate of appreciation.
