Riverview Health Care Advocacy Committee

Access to timely health care remains a challenge for many communities across Canada, and Riverview is no exception. It is estimated that more than 3,200 Riverview residents - approximately 15% of the population - do not currently have access to a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

The Riverview Health Care Advocacy Committee was established by Mayor Andrew LeBlanc and Town Council in 2025 to help address these challenges. The committee’s mandate is to advocate for access to health-care services and support the expansion of primary care resources for Riverview residents.

The committee is made up of local physicians, pharmacists, firefighter-paramedics, and community members with diverse professional and lived experience. Together, they are working to better understand local health-care needs, identify gaps in service, and support opportunities to strengthen the health system in Riverview.

Riverview Health Care Survey

As part of this work, the committee will be seeking input from Riverview residents. Community members are encouraged to share their experiences of accessing health care through the Riverview Health Care Survey starting April 1, 2026. Feedback collected through this survey will help inform the committee’s advocacy priorities and future recommendations.
